![]() Here you just run around talk to people and do or dont do their side quests. Leave gizmo alive, kill gizmo you decide, and it will impact the location and endings. In fallout 1 you have these locations you explore and meet people, then in the end you decide basically how the place ends up. And you dont even get to impact anything either. From a technical point of view the game is fantastic that much is for sure.īut the main story is so nonexistent that I don't have any motivation to keep exploring or leveling myself up, I mean what for? The world itself just doesnt feel that interesting either, sure you have magic objects and mutants but everyone is just chilling around in these massive facilities and nobody cares about the world outside their own little bubbles. The UI is clean, moving around feels great, Interacting with the world feels nice and smooth. The turn based combat can be at times cool, but I played for almost 8 hours and I had combat encounters maybe 3 times? Other than that I was just running around trying to get XP by doing side quests, and I didnt get a lot done frankly. Unique personalities means that one guy likes science, one guy likes punching everything etc. You also have companions but again they all quite forgettable. You are your job, you are not a character in an of itself. and while this seems like a rather pointless decision for stat boost this actually is a massive decision that will impact almost all interactions from here on out. Cool.Īlso in the beginning you get to choose a profession, prisoner scientist, administrator etc. ![]() Here, your guy wants to find a dude, then you meet him and now you are just a guy wandering around in the wasteland doing errands for people. Wasteland 2, you try to stop massive robot hordes from killing everyone. In fallout you are trying to find the chip, then you learn about the master and you want to stop him. Really, I have no idea why I should do anything in this world. And after this I have no motivation to progress the story. Even the moments of "Hey remember me, we met then I disappeared" lack any impact. Problem? I dont care about any of the characters, or even myself. The main story is you go into a dome to do science stuff, you touch a magic machine that ends up exploding and time goes forward a few years for everyone but you. And that probably is one of the main issues. sci-fi RPG? If by that you mean you talk to loads and loads of NPCs sure but frankly I don't remember a single one being all that interesting. RPG in a STALKER type zone, but with more sci fi elements and scientist etc. I feel bad for the developers because they clearly ran out of money and I'm sure this is not the game the wanted to release, but as it stands I really can't recommend it unless you like 30 hours of "storage locker search simulator". If there's a better example of a game that needed another year or so in the oven this is it. It really devolves from something unique and interesting into a totally uninspired series of fetch quests that largely amount to nothing. Review: I really wanted to love this game and was super into it all through the first act, after that I played all the way to the end just because I'm a total sucker for the sunk-cost fallacy and can't stop a game half way through if I've already invested 20 hours into it. Great ideas for characters and areas but none of them really pay off in a meaningful wayĬompanions don't have much to say and are basically silent pack mules Quests are all pretty generic, nothing really unexpected or exciting happens (except for the end of Act 1) It has all the bones of a great isometric game but is utterly devoid of interesting content. Great character system - perks and attributes are creativeįeels extremely unfinished. Some decent writing and intrigue in Act 1 Unique take on the "post apocalyptic" genre, this is a more modern environment :tower: Black Tower's Blog īeautiful isometric game - excellent art style ![]() :RideCheck: Artstation (art production and stories) [Black Tower Publishing :RideCheck: Dark Crystal Games (news and jobs) :RideCheck: Press Center (presskit and publications) :RideCheck: Dark Crystal Games dev page on Steam :checklist: Instagram (art and stories) [Dark Crystal Games :checklist: VK (game updates in russian) :checklist: Facebook (game updates) [:checklist: Youtube (trailers, livestreams and dev diaries) The game continues to evolve so if you want to stay in touch on other channels than Steam you can follow us on social media and visit other cool resources with game updates, information, new artworks and lore pieces.
